These are some of my initial draft designs which i produced after researching film posters and looking at their typical codes and conventions. I tried to incorporate my own creative designs and accompany these with the codes and conventions expected to create a film poster which promoted my film whilst also had the affect on encouraging my audience to want to go and see the film.
In this design i wanted to create an image of Jack Johnson walking along the street whilst somebody is sat in a car, with tinted windows, slowly moving up and following him.
In this idea i wanted to show the idea of Jack Johnson my films hero standing out from the rest of the line of soldiers to suggest to my audience that Johnson has stepped out of line and is standing out from the crowd for what he believes in. The title is big and bold and stands out along with the stars of my film names, i have placed the pugs at the bottom of my poster and have chosen to include a tagline 'The key to the future is in his hands.' Suggesting to my audience that the character holds the future of the world in his hands and that it is up to him to stop the devestation from taking place.
In this draft i wanted to create the effect of looking through a pair of binoculars showing good on one side and bad on the other to clearly highlight the confrontation and seperation of the two characters, i also decided to show both of them holding weapons to suggests the level of confrontation whilst also suggesting that both men know how to use a weapon and are used to dangerous situations giving the audience a brief insight into the characters lives.
In this image i tried to recreate a scene from my film in which Johnson is walking through a dark underpass with the assassin hiding behind the wall waiting for him and getting ready to jump out and attack him.
This is a combination between two of my draft designs. I decided to incorporate the idea of my main hero Jack Johnson walking through the underpass with the assassin watching him from behind a wall, but observing this scene through binoculars again seeing good on one side and the baddie on the other. I have also chosen to include recommendations about my film in this design in an attempt to encourage the audience to go and see my film.
In this image i wanted to create a CCTV image effect of my hero Johnson walking out of the scene glancing up towards the security camera as he passes, i included the image of a blowing up car hurtling towards the camera and a dead man lying in the street to show the violence and devestation which my character can cause. Highlighting to my audience that the character is dangerous and a tough man who can protect himself.
In this image i wanted to show Johnson walking along the street with cross hairs on top of him to highlight to the audience that my character is constantly being watched whilst it also suggests that my character is in extreme danger and that somebody is going to try and kill him which suggests to them a possible genre and brief indication of the storyline.
This is a poster which i created for a newspaper, therefore the conventions have changed in the way in which i haven't included the title of the film as i can place that above the poster in the newspaper therefore i could concentrate more on the main image.
In this design i wanted to portray the confrontation by showing
Johnson walking out from between the other two figures of the assassin and the army general who ordered the death of Johnson, highlighting to the audience the two people on either side of the hero who want him dead and the hero in the middle walking away suggesting he isnt scared or intimidated by them he is prepared to fight them. I chose to show the character with weapons symbolising he knows how to use weaponry and is comfortable around weapons and suggests his profession and skills to the audience whilst also hinting at the films genre and giving the audience an idea of what they can expect from the film.
This is the final draft design which i produced, after looking at the other designs i head already produced i discovered that they where mostly horizontal so i decided to produce a vertical poster showing my main character walking towards the camera holding a machine gun highlighting his destructive nature and skill around weapons i have chosen to place two taglines at either side of him in an attempt to encourage and excite my audience about my film.
